‘Israel At 60’ Logo Contest Winner Announced After receiving dozens of entries, a winning logo has been selected by the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County’s Israel Program Center (IPC) that will be used to promote and advertise activities and programs celebrating Israel’s 60th year of statehood. C.G. Grant, a local graphic designer and photographer, won a roundtrip airline ticket to Israel courtesy of MOSAIC Travel for her winning design. Grant’s logo will be used by IPC as it hosts ‘Israel at 60’ events from October 2007 to May 2008 with the final event on May 8 at the Meyer Amphitheater in West Palm Beach celebrating Israel’s Independence Day. Touro College South Launches Center for Study of Spirituality The expanding Department of Psychology at Touro College South in Miami Beach announces the opening of the Dr. Edward and Judy Steinberg Center for Spirituality and Well-Being. The initial phase of the center will focus on examining the effects of the home environment on spirituality and well-being in children and adolescents. Plans for The Steinberg Center include research investigations, counseling services, seminars, a speaker’s bureau, a resource library, and consulting services for local and national organizations devoted to enhancing spiritual experiences. "Touro College has experienced phenomenal growth since its founding in 1971, and is currently educating more than 23,000 students at locations in New York, Florida, California, Nevada, Jerusalem and Moscow," notes Rabbi Alan G. Ciner, Vice President of Touro College. Miami Heat Xtreme Team to Entertain at Family Sukkot Celebration The Miami HEAT Xtreme Team that has been entertaining HEAT fans with their daring and energetic routines will entertain at the upcoming Annual Family Sukkot Celebration, "Shake Your Lulav." A limited number of tickets at $12 per adult and $10 per child are still available for the event on Monday, October 1st at 5:00 p.m. at the Cypress Preserve, by the back parking lot of the Levis JCC, located at 9801 Donna Klein Blvd. in Boca Raton. Federation Young Adult Division to Host ‘An Evening at Sea’ The Young Adult Division of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County (YAD) invites young professionals to its 2nd annual ‘An Evening at Sea’ cruise on the Intracoastal Waterway on Saturday, October 6. YAD is an organization of men and women, single and married, between the ages of 22-45 within Palm Beach County who are active participants in building and strengthening the Jewish community through a variety of fundraising, leadership development, educational and communal events. "Because of the huge success of last year’s Evening at Sea, this has quickly become the must-attend event for Jewish young professionals this year," said Jonathan Gilbert, chair of YAD. "Not only does the money raised help support all of Federation’s philanthropic initiatives worldwide, it’s a casual, fun way to meet and mingle with other local, civic-minded young professionals." Located at 1101 Brickell Ave. on the 2nd floor, the synagogue maintains an open door policy requiring no membership or prior affiliation. It offers convenience not only to local residents, but also to those who work in the area and not able to get home in time for services due to Miami’s traffic conditions. Berman, a senior vice president and managing director of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services, the nation’s largest real estate investment brokerage firm, has been appointed Chairman of the Jewish Federation of Broward County’s Real Estate Division. Berman was recently promoted to oversee all of Marcus & Millichap’s Florida offices in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Melbourne. Berman has led the Fort Lauderdale office to a dominant position in the South Florida and under his direction, the firm has closed more than $10 billion in sales. Hadassah Chapter to Open on Williams Island The Aventura-Sunny Isles Beach ‘Simcha Chapter’ of Hadassah invites the public to its’ opening meeting on Tuesday, October 9 at 8:00 pm in the Willie & Celia Trump Synagogue located at 2000 Island Boulevard on Williams Island. The meeting will include a screening of "Obsession," a documentary examining Radical Islam’s war against the West. Tuly and Sharon Cantor - Wultz, the parents of 16-year-old Daniel Wultz, who lost his life in an April 2006 terrorist attack in Tel Aviv, will speak after the film. The couple, residents of Weston, now works to memorialize their son’s life and values through the Daniel Cantor Wultz Foundation. Admission is free and open to the public.
