Rep. Klein Denounces Columbia University

U.S. Rep. Ron Klein (FL-22), who serves as Vice-Chair of the House Subcommittee on the Middle East, Vice-Chair of the House Iran Working Group, and Chair of the Congressional Task Force Against Anti-Semitism, has issued a statement sharply criticizing Columbia University for allowing Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s to speak to students and faculty on Sept. 25.

"I strongly condemn Columbia University’s decision to give Iranian President Ahmadinejad a forum in which to spread his message of hate and violence. With our troops serving in Iraq, fighting insurgents that are armed and funded by Ahmadinejad’s government, the timing is all wrong," said Klein. "Furthermore, I am greatly disappointed by the Dean of Columbia University, who said that he would have welcomed Adolf Hitler to speak at Columbia. Hitler has no place on America’s podiums, and neither does someone who represents the most current form of tyranny. Until Ahmadinejad stops flouting international will—until he stops pursuing his dangerous nuclear program and funding global terrorism—he should be persona non-grata."
