JNF reaches out to local women

Two back-to-back Women’s Alliance breakfasts sponsored by Jewish National Fund were held last week in Weston and Pompano Beach. Both featured Talia Tzour, JNF’s Israel emissary from New Jersey, who gave a poignant and informative presentation titled, "Lives Intertwined- the Role of Women in Israel and America."

The first event, held at Temple Dor Dorim in Weston, was co-chaired by Claudine Heger and Brigitte Zuckerman. The next day, Tzour addressed a roomful of women at Palm Aire Country Club, at an event chaired by Irma Newmark, chair of the Women’s Alliance in North Broward.

With both audiences, Tzour explored the similarities between American and Israeli women and the role they play in building their families, communities and creating the fabric of their societies. She also gave an update on Israel today and the extraordinary work that JNF is doing.

"Talia’s presentation was so powerful," said Newmark, "that it brought forth a very strong reaction from the women who heard her. I’ve received many calls since from women who were there who now want to get involved in JNF and I am thrilled. American support for Israel is extremely important at this time and JNF has an important role to play in building women’s leadership towards this effort—economically, socially, and politically.

"This was the first such event in South Florida and I believe it represents an historic opening at an historic time for JNF in Broward. It’s time for women to take up leadership roles around the world and this is a great start."

The Women’s Alliance is part of JNF’s Women’s Campaign for Israel, an initiative looking to provide all women the opportunity to come together to learn, to share and to experience the personal satisfaction of participating in the preservation of the State of Israel - the land and its people.
