Hebrew Academy of greater Miami welcomes three new administrators
Students at the Rabbi Alexander S. Gross Hebrew Academy will meet a host of new faculty and staff when they return to school this fall.
The Elementary Division will welcome a new Judaic Studies Principal, Rabbi Mordechai Loiterman, who most recently served as principal of the Hebrew Academy in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Rabbi Loiterman is credited with helping the Bloomfield school "reach new academic heights," according to the school's president Ira Feigenbaum. Administration and board members at the Hebrew Academy of Greater Miami say they look forward to similar excellence in Miami Beach.
The high school welcomes two new staff members as well: Mrs. Bari Girnun and Rabbi Benhamu.
Originally from Lyon, France, Rabbi Benhamu joins the Academy from Landau Yeshiva in Miami, where he taught for five years and was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2003. He will teach Talmud to grades nine through twelve.
"Each child has a destiny that we are not aware of," says Rabbi Benhamu. "I strive to invest in the students so that I can help them reach their destiny."
Bari Girnun, a South Florida native, will serve as Director of Student Activities and Programs. Girnun attended Hillel Community Day School in North Miami Beach and says she intends to tap into her experiences there to help the Hebrew Academy program reach new heights.
"It's not so much the specific activities that we did in high school," says Girnun. "I gained and grew as a leader because of the entire informal education experience, and I want to share that experience with the kids at the Academy."
Zionist youth organization Bnei Akiva will set up offices at Hebrew Academy and assist in the ongoing activities and Zionist education in the school.
